A Tribute to the Tbird and its Contribution to the Victory over Germany During WWII
Researched and Written by Gretchen Watson
(Fiction)
The TBird was initially developed by Verner Von Vomber a German immigrant during WWII for the sole purpose of high altitude recognizance over the low lands in the very heart of Germany. It also served as a bomber, spearheading the overtaking of Berlin in the final days of the war in Europe. Its unique, extra high capacity fuel cells gave the TBird the ability to travel great distances, penetrating deep into enemy territory.
The TBird was one of the first “Stealthy” airplanes of that era. Its stubby nose along with the rest of the multifaceted pod surface was well known to repel nearly anything that came into contact with it. This airplane was the first to be fitted with a “Futuristic State of the Art” sound reduction system which is still in use today on many jet fighters.
The power plant of the TBird has been said to be one of the premier technical accomplishments of the 20th Century and is still one of the leading engines in the world. It propelled the TBird to unparalleled speeds during many air raids over Berlin.
Probably one of the best but least documented features of the Tbird was its maneuverability. It could literally turn on a dime even at top bombing speed. This was the first plane where pilots reported blacking out while making quick turns. Subsequently, technicians quickly began the development of “G” suits. However, they were not completed until after the war was over and, unfortunately, the loss of many “Good men.”
Because of the Tbird’s very large cargo capacity, it eventually became our most effective and reliable bomber during the latter half of WII. With this airplane’s stealth technology and the unheard of ability to carry a complete 400lb bomb along with a very small pilot, it became known throughout Germany as the “Predator.” Many stories have been written of the fear that it inspired among German citizens and war strategists. Many German lives were lost, primarily in Berlin, due to late night bombing runs. “Nobody saw it coming – no one was warned!!!” one Berlin newspaper reported. Three days later, Hitler’s headquarters was raided. The war in Europe was over.
There have been reports, sightings and speculations of a 21st Century version being tested at an airbase in the Mid West. Sources claim that it now has the ability to completely disappear then reappear in another region of the sky – almost instantaneously. War will never be the same.
